When you use Aura, we may collect the following information: your name, email address, career-related information you share during the assessment conversation (such as your major, work experience, goals, and interests), your career archetype and readiness score, and payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card details).
We use your information to generate your personalized career intelligence report, deliver your report via email, process payments for Aura+ features, improve the quality and accuracy of our AI assessments, and communicate with you about your account or the Service. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Your conversation data is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate your career report. This data is sent via Anthropic's API and is subject to Anthropic's data usage policies. We do not use your data to train AI models. Your conversation content is used solely to generate your individual report.
Aura is owned and operated by IGotYou Career Services LLC. Aura is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any college, university, or educational institution. Any career assessment, report, or recommendation provided by Aura reflects the independent analysis of our AI system and does not represent the views or guidance of any academic institution.
Because Aura operates independently from any educational institution, data you share with Aura is not considered an "education record" under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Information you voluntarily provide during your career assessment — including your major, GPA, work experience, and career goals — is collected directly from you as an individual consumer, not from any university system. Your data is governed solely by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. We do not share your data with any educational institution unless you explicitly request it.
Your report data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
We use the following third-party services: Anthropic (Claude AI) for career assessment and report generation, Stripe for payment processing, Supabase for data storage, Resend for email delivery, and Vercel for hosting and analytics. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their handling of your data.
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure API key management, and access controls on our database. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your data, and opt out of marketing communications. We use essential cookies to maintain your login session (aura_token, aura_email). These are strictly necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We also use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Vercel Analytics to understand how users interact with the Service. Analytics cookies are only placed after you provide consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): the right of access to your personal data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (for analytics) and legitimate interest (for providing the career intelligence service). If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold, the right to delete your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise these rights, email privacy@useaura.net or use the Delete My Data feature below.
You can permanently delete all data associated with your Aura account at any time. This includes your assessment reports, career archetype data, readiness scores, and all session information. This action is irreversible.
To delete your data, sign into your dashboard and navigate to the data deletion option, or send a DELETE request to /api/delete-account with your authentication token.
Aura is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
